Do you know that a majority of résumé get binned in the first 30 second of a manager or human resource staff having a a look at it. Most of the time they do not even look at your qualification and/ experience. No, I am NOT kidding, I am serious. They look at how the resume is structured – the format, the presence, the font and the columns and everything around it. If they don’t like the ‘first look’ they bin it. Simple as that. Having to read it all and selecting the REAL candidate – is not an easy job. And if by the end of the day, the HR staff gets over it and does not even care to read them properly – I don’t blame them.

So you are not only fighting against other candidates, you are also taking on the moods, the tiredness, the monotony, the lameness – that these HR guys and girls go through while reading these applications. You’d be lucky if your application got picked first and you had a good one and the reader of your application is actually in a good mood and has had his/her 2nd coffee of the morning. LUCKY YOU!
